Where the Money Goes

100% of all donations made to the Parkinson's Unity Walk are distributed among the four major U.S. Parkinson's disease foundations to fund disease research. These foundations are the American Parkinson Disease Association, the Parkinson's Foundation, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, and The Parkinson Alliance. Over the years, Unity Walk donations have funded considerable progress in treatment techniques and a search for the cure; your support has a direct impact on the lives of those living with Parkinson's disease! In 27 years, we have raised over $28 million to support disease research!

Other measures of progress:

A federal bill to ban the pesticide paraquat, believed to increase risk for Parkinson's, was introduced in 2020 and although progress stalled, reintroduction of the bill is planned for this year.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) added DBS programming to its approved telehealth services during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing access to this critical need during a time when in-clinic care was restricted; efforts to make this approval permanent are being pursued along with a broader and increased awareness of the importance of telehealth in increasing access to care.
