Parkinson’s Unity Walk Announces New Roles for Two Board Members
Kingston, N.J., February 25, 2021 - The Parkinson’s Unity Walk, the largest grassroots fundraiser for Parkinson’s disease research in the country, announced new roles for two board members. James J. McNasby has been appointed to the role of President and Dr. Jessica Galgano has been appointed to the role of Vice President and Treasurer.
James J. McNasby, JD (Jim) is elected to the role of President. Formerly, he held the role of Treasurer. Jim is Chief People Officer and General Counsel for The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Prior to Fox, he was with Marsh LLC, where he most recently held the office of Managing Director, Global Sales (2017-2020).†Jim was formerly the General Counsel of Marsh LLC (2007-2017).†Prior to joining Marsh, Jim held positions at Kraft Foods, Philip Morris, and Davis Polk & Wardwell. He currently serves as a Director of both The Billy Rose Foundation and ThinkOptimal, and he previously served as a Director of United Biscuits Group Investments, PLC, in the U.K. Diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2000 at the age of 31, Jim has been a participant in the Parkinson’s Unity Walk since 2007 as the Captain of Team McMoss and has raised more than one million dollars for research.†He has served on the Unity Walk’s Board since 2011.
Jessica Galgano, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, is elected to the role of Vice President and Treasurer. Dr. Galgano earned her PhD (distinguished) from Columbia University in Biobehavioral Sciences in 2007. She joined Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center as an assistant research scientist in 2006 and later joined New York University Grossman School of Medicine as an associate research scientist in 2010 and as a faculty instructor in 2012. Dr. Galgano is the Founder and CEO of Open Lines Speech and Communication, a concierge practice based in NYC. In 2010, she joined LSVT Global as one of six certified LSVT LOUDģ faculty instructors worldwide. She is an adjunct graduate professor at New York University and has been an adjunct professor Columbia University and San Francisco State University. Dr. Galgano is a recipient of several awards and grants given by the National Institute of Health (NIH), National Institute of Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, National Institute of Mental Health of the NIH, Columbia University, and New York University. She has presented research at the ASHA Convention, National Voice Symposium, American Laryngological Association, Cognitive Neuroscience and Organization of Human Brain Mapping conferences. She has received funding from the National Institutes of Health for her research and has published peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. Dr. Galgano has been a part of the Parkinson’s Unity Walk since 2010 and has served on the Parkinson’s Unity Walk Board since 2018.††
