Parkinson's CHAMP

Team: NYIT Smither’s Center x Friedberg JCC

Location: Nassau County, NY

Walking since: 2021

Money raised: $14,402.00

Why I/We Walk:
We walk united with the entire Parkinson’s community but especially to support the north and south shores of Nassau County, Long Island Parkinson's communities and to come together in Central Park with other communities across the country. This year's walk will honor not only those who will walk beside us but also, those who will be walking with us in our hearts.

Fun Facts About Us:
The NYIT Smithers Center and Friedberg JCC is a team composed of two organizations in Nassau County located on opposite Shores of Long Island. We were the #1 Rookie team last year for the 2021 Virtual Parkinson’s Unity Walk, raising over $14,000.

Keys to Success:
Our key to success is attributed to our community members - every family wants to show support, not only for their own loved ones but for each other’s as well. The eagerness to donate, fundraise, and show up is incredible, and we all are very much looking forward to getting back to Central Park!

What I/We Love About the Unity Walk:
We love the friendliness of the Unity Walk staff and the camaraderie/excitement that is involved in uniting against Parkinson's every year in the greatest city in the world, NYC!
