Parkinson's CHAMP

Team: Brooklyn Parkinson Group and Friends

Location: Brooklyn, New York

Walking since: The group was started by Leonore E. Gordon who walked every year from 2003 to 2018. I have been walking since 2008.

Money raised: $268,541.06

Why I/We Walk:
As Team Captain, I am participating in honor of my husband, Joe Lerner, and in memory of Leonore Gordon.

Fun Facts About Us:
Leonore raised over a quarter of a million dollars for Parkinson’s research and in 2019 was awarded, “The Margot Zobel Certificate of Gratitude,” for her efforts.

Keys to Success:
Our team is hard working and very serious about getting the word out about the Parkinson’s Unity Walk and broadening awareness of Parkinson’s Disease. We raised over $15,000 last year and hope to surpass that in 2022.

What I/We Love About the Unity Walk:
Brooklyn Parkinson Group and Friends is a close group of families living with PD and is involved in many educational and community-based activities. The Unity Walk gives us a chance to walk together to raise awareness and funding for Parkinson’s Disease research.
