The American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) is the largest grassroots network dedicated to fighting Parkinson’s disease (PD) and works tirelessly to assist the more than one million Americans with Parkinson’s disease live life to the fullest in the face of this chronic, neurological disorder. Founded in 1961, APDA has raised and invested more than $170 million to provide outstanding patient services and educational programs, elevate public awareness about the disease, and support research designed to unlock the mysteries of Parkinson’s disease and ultimately put an end to this disease. Join us in the fight against Parkinson’s disease and to learn more about the support APDA provides nationally through our network of Chapters and Information and Referral (I&R) Centers, as well as our national Research Program and Centers for Advanced Research via our website www.apdaparkinson.org .

The Parkinson’s Foundation mission is to make lives better for people with Parkinson’s.  We focus on improving care – through our global network of Centers of Excellence and Parkinson’s Outcomes Project. We work to educate and empower the PD community by providing free resources including: educational books, webinars, podcasts, a life-saving hospitalization kit, and our toll-free Helpline (1 800 4PD INFO), staffed by Parkinson’s specialists who answer nearly 30,000 calls annually. We are advancing research toward a cure by investing in scientists to understand the basic mechanisms of Parkinson’s critical to developing new treatments and medications while identifying and addressing the unmet needs of people with PD by driving cutting-edge research on a wide range of patient-driven topics. The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Researchworks urgently toward one goal: speeding a cure for Parkinson’s disease and advancing improved treatments for those living with PD today. The Foundation takes a focused and proactive approach and, since inception in 2000, has invested more than $750 million in programs to transform the best scientific ideas into therapies needed by the millions with Parkinson’s disease. The Parkinson Alliance (PA) is the umbrella organization for the Parkinson’s Unity Walk, the largest single-day community fundraising event, and Team Parkinson. We are dedicated to raising funds for research to end Parkinson’s disease, support the development of new therapies and improve the quality of life for those living with the disease. The Parkinson Alliance also directly funds and conducts patient-centered outcomes research in its own right, focusing on both motor and non-motor symptoms, and other aspects of well-being such as resilience and coping skills.

Two and a half decades ago, Dr. J. William Langston and a dedicated group of Parkinson’s disease experts set out to create a better way to research and provide care for Parkinson’s disease. Patients would become partners in developing their care plans, improving their quality of life, and discovering new strategies to confront and manage their disease. Compassionate care would work hand in hand with cutting-edge research to seek answers, develop new therapies and treatments, and ultimately work toward a cure. The result was the Parkinson’s Institute and Clinical Center in Sunnyvale, California—America’s only independent non-profit organization combining world-class care, clinical research, laboratory research, and clinical trials for Parkinson’s disease under one roof. By virtue of design, the Institute is uniquely equipped to provide the best care, accelerate promising science, and perhaps most important—integrate the two and everything in between.
