Paint for Parkinson's

People live with Parkinson's disease all year round, so Team Kohan gets that we can fundraise throughout the year, not just in April during Parkinson's Awareness Month. This summer, I was looking for a fun activity where I could get together with friends and raise money for research in the process. Studios offering "Wine and Paint" parties are opening all over and when Pinot's Palette opened in Ridgewood, I knew we had our fundraiser planned! This event started as Paint for Parkinson’s by the Pool but when the weather forecast was for rain, we moved the fundraiser indoors to Pinot’s Palette. It’s a good thing we did because halfway through, the skies opened up! Two key learnings – flexibility is important and things have a way of working out.

Over 35 of us gathered at Pinot's Palette - mostly women but a few brave men joined us. We painted masterpieces while sipping wine and visiting with friends. In keeping with our summer fundraiser, we painted a beach scene and gave out sunglasses to each participant. What a great way to unwind for an important cause! Pinot's Palette did all the work. All we had to do was show up and they donated $10 for each participant in support of Team Kohan’s fundraising efforts for the Unity Walk. A good result with very little work on our part plus we had fun!
