Whether you're at home or in Central Park, a single step can change the life of a person with Parkinson's disease.

Every April people living with Parkinson’s disease, along with their families and friends, gather in New York City’s Central Park to raise awareness and funds for Parkinson’s disease research. At the first walk there were 200 participants. In 2008, more than 10,000 came from across the United States to fight to cure Parkinson’s disease and to connect with others whose lives are affected by the disease.

We understand that many people who want to attend the Unity Walk in Central Park this year may not be able to do so, given the current economic climate. That’s why we teamed up with Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc., our proud partner and premier sponsor for the ninth year, to create the first-ever VIRTUAL Parkinson’s Unity Walk. Now you have the opportunity to donate and take part in this important and special community event from the comfort of your home!

If you can’t join us in Central Park, let your fingers do the walking, click on the link above and sign up to be a virtual walker!

How do your donations help?

With 100 percent of donations given to research, the Walk provides the public with a direct opportunity to help the Parkinson's disease community and change the lives of the millions of people affected. If you donate a dollar for every mile from Los Angeles to New York City, you would raise $2,792 for Parkinson's research!

If $1 equals 1 mile, how many miles did I just virtually walk?

If you donated $15, that would be equivalent to walking the length of Manhattan!

Congratulations! If you just donated $130 you made your way from the National Monument in Washington DC to the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia!

Wow — you walked far! By donating $250, you walked the width of the state of California!
