Luncheon to Honor Congresswoman Nita Lowey

The Parkinson’s Group of Westchester honored Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D) of the 18th Congressional District on Saturday at the YWCA in White Plains. She received a plaque in recognition of her continuous support of federal funding for ﬁnding a cure for Parkinson’s Disease since her co-sponsorship of the Morris K. Udall Parkinson’s Disease Research Act of 1998. The presenters were William L. Thorson of Chappaqua founder and chairman of the Parkinson’s Support Group, who has suffered from Parkinson’s Disease for over 25 years and Fernando U. Fajardo of Briarcliff Manor, sponsor. He funded the event in memory of his wife, Benetta A. Fajardo, who succumbed to a typical Parkinson’s Disease last year.
