Team Cantore "Rocks for Research"

October 16, 2008, TEAM CANTORE hosted the 5th Annual “Countrified Rock for Research” Fund-raiser for Parkinson’s Research at the TRILOGY Event Facility in Marietta, GA and sponsored by Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Comcast and some generous individual sponsors.

Event attendees were treated to an array of fabulous food, unique auction items (including a Michael Phelps autographed Olympic Swim Cap and a commemorative poster autographed by Jeffrey Steele from his induction as a Country Museum Legendary Songwriter Poet and Prophet) and “UNBELIEVABLE” entertainment featuring Songwriter/Producer/Entertainer and “NASHVILLE STAR” Judge, Jeffrey Steele.

The event has been hosted at a different venue each year; each bringing something new which has helped keep it interesting. Combined with the increased exposure which country music fans have had to songwriters (particularly, Jeffrey Steele) who write the beautiful words and music which make country stars like Rascal Flatts, Montgomery Gentry, Tim McGraw and others famous, the event keeps supporters coming back and new attendees anxiously anticipating each year’s event. Jeffrey’s support for this event is more than another performance. “We all have trials in our own lives…what keeps us going is our faith and the love and support of our friends,” said Tamra. She added, “Jeffrey has written words which have meant something special to each of us in their own way.” (such as Jeffrey’s song “Help Somebody” which embodies the support he has given to Tamra.) In a touching tribute to his compassion and contribution to the success of her fundraising efforts, Tamra and fellow fund-raising supporter, Susan Kreuger, returned Jeffrey’s original hand written lyrics to the song “What Hurts the Most” to him as this song has taken on a whole new meaning to Jeffrey who lost his son a couple of years ago in a tragic accident.

The event was near perfection under the leadership of Event Director, Beth Patrick. Beth and her former Boss, Paul Doster hosted the first “Countrified Rock for Research” at the “Swallow at the Hollow” 5 years ago which made it only fitting to have Paul as the evening’s Emcee. Tamra’s friend, Walker Hayes took the stage prior to the auction to play a few songs which have recently earned him a spot on the Capitol Records roster. Dale Moody, once again did an outstanding job leading our live auction. These volunteers were joined by many of Tamra’s family and friends which made this quite a remarkable evening.

“Each year we hear stories of how Parkinson’s is impacting the lives of the event’s supporters. PD has become so main-stream, that it is hard to find anyone that doesn’t have a close friend or relative struggling with this indiscriminant, degenerative disease.” Tamra Cantore, Founder of TEAM CANTORE, further noted, “For that reason, I should not be amazed that even in trying economic times such as these, support for our event remains strong.” The event is expected to bring in nearly $40,000…100% of which goes directly toward Parkinson’s Research!
