The Unity Walk inspired one volunteer in Los Angeles to put PD Organizations on the same page
The Unity Walk inspired one volunteer in Los Angeles to put PD organizations on the same page, if not in the same park. Mary Yost, diagnosed with Parkinson's in 1990 at age 42, e-mails out a free monthly bulletin of events and meetings. She calls it PDLA in the spirit of "we all Can get along." The "subscriber" list, kept in confidence, includes people living with Parkinson's and health care professionals.
If other volunteers are interested in coordinating their own area's calendars, Mary would be pleased to share how she puts hers together. There's a wealth of support resources and yet there are a million people with PD who may not know about them. You may email Mary or call her at 310-824-7416
We thank Mary for her great work and believe this is a great example of how an individual can help communicate and unite the PD community in their own area.
