Central Coast 1st Annual Parkinson's Walk
On April 28, 2007, under sunny skies in Pismo Beach, CA, the Central Coast Parkinson’s Support Group held its first Walk to raise money for Parkinson’s Unity Walk. With the encouragement of Donna Kos, who coordinates a walk in Sunnyvale, CA, each year, and with only a few weeks to organize this event, Mary Bukey, the current president of CCPSG, and her team of volunteers, including Virginia Ward, Jane Baker and Deane DeRito, did a tremendous job.
With the support of the local community, and sponsors such as Biodiesel of Las Vegas, Inc., San Luis Trust Bank, JJ’s at the Beach, Solid Screen Printing as well as others who donated prizes to this event, this small but mighty group, wearing colorful t-shirts especially made for this Walk, raised $10,160.00 for Parkinson’s research!! Participants had the option of walking 1.5 miles or the full 4 miles. Alan Noll, a walker with Parkinson’s, completed the 4 miles walk and was their top fundraiser, raising $3,000!
Congratulations to everyone for an amazing job.
