Who won the 2005 Parkinsonís Unity Walk Raffle Drawing?
Alex and Gail Nash won the raffle drawing during the Walk program last year. They were married at the Walk and came back to New York to celebrate their one year wedding anniversary. They decided on the Alaskan Cruise and went last August. They had a great time!
During the Walk program this year we asked Alex and Gail to turn the raffle bin and hand the winning ticket to Michelle Charlesworth, WABC-TV news media anchorwoman and master of ceremonies.
Michelle announced from the stage the name of Dina Alogna, Team Captain of Conrad's Crusaders, as the winner of the 7-day cruise. Dina and her Team were sitting in the audience.
Conrad's Crusaders have been a part of the Walk for a few years and they come in full force in support of Dina's Father, Conrado Espineli. "My dad, who is 63 years old, has been living with this disease for approximately 30 years. His continuous strength, courage, and determination are an inspiration to my family and me. He does the Walk every year. It's sometimes difficult for him, but that doesn't stop him. In fact, he finished the Walk this year before the rest of our Team. He's quite a guy," Dina commented.
This was the biggest Walk yet with 260 Teams and over 8500 people. The raffle bin contained over 10,000 tickets. Dina said, "I never win anything and to win such a nice prize on an amazing day, it was great."
She and her husband Steve are debating whether to go to the Caribbean or Alaska. Congratulations Dina!
Donations received and credited in increments of $100 as of April 4, 2005 were eligible for the drawing.
