Your Dollars at Work - 2012 PUW Research Grants
(November 5, 2012) Thanks to PUW supporters, over $1.8M was raised in 2012 for Parkinson’s disease research. These donations are supporting ten different research grants funded by these seven Parkinson’s organizations who are the beneficiaries of the money raised at the Walk. These research projects include among others, a study seeking to identify targets for neuro-protective therapies; testing a new therapy that will dramatically reduce motor fluctuations; and researching a gene therapy approach to re-establish functioning by restoring axons of surviving dopamine neurons.
A full description of all 2012 research grants funded by the Unity Walk, and updates on grants funded for the past two years are now available on our website. The Unity Walk continues its dedication to funding research that will help improve the quality of life for those living with Parkinson’s disease and ultimately, find the cause and cure for this disease. It is this research that takes us one step closer to a cure and thanks to our supporters for all they are doing to make this happen.
