Blessings Fell Like Rain

It wasn’t a day of sunshine or blue skies,
But no one would let the rain be it’s demise.
Family and friends, from times past (and some new),
Equally committed, to what they’re there to do.

With compassion and friendship, sincerity and love,
There were tears; there was laughter and many wet hugs.
The encouragement offered by each person there,
Helped strengthen the afflicted, as they sensed such great care.

Many, came to honor a loved one they’d lost,
Knowing, research, will keep others from paying this cost.
And some, living with the struggles of this horrid disease,
Uniting as one voice, with their funding pleas.

Much of the challenge, is to let people know,
How close the cure is, and where dollars go.
Scientists are passionate, about finding a cure,
They’re so close, that with funding, a solution is sure.

Incurable, is no longer, how they view this disease,
It’s a chance for millions of lives to set free.
The progress toward finding a cure gives us hope,
But the funding still needed is quite large in scope.

There was incredible support from some industry friends,
And The Weather Channel exposure, we all must commend.
When I start to wonder why this disease came my way,
I see the path God’s been laying in my life for this day.

I sit back, in awe, as I fight this disease,
Watching God even working through people like me.
When I’m feeling defeated and zest for life has been drained,
I’m refreshed by the blessings God sends with the rain.
