You might have wondered, "If this is Margot's Corner, where the heck has Margot been?" A fair enough question.
I didn't mean to ignore you, but following my DBS surgery I've been adjusted and re-adjusted so many times that I haven't had much energy for doing the things I usually do. I'm happy to report that I now seem to be on the right adjustment track and I'm feeling more like myself. With the Walk only two weeks away, I want to remind you that there's still a lot we can do.
For instance: Follow up with family, friends and co-workers who haven't yet committed to walking or contributing. Tell them about the exciting research that's being done, and remind them that every penny they give will further that research. As an added inducement, tell them how much fun they'll have at the Walk, and how much they will learn.
If you have children in school, encourage them to take up a collection in their class and turn it in on the day of the Walk. If they're willing, arm them with a copy of the full-page ad for the Walk that appears in the current issue of People Magazine. It will give them legitimacy.
Talk about the Walk as much as you can. You'll be surprised how many people will react positively; nearly everyone knows someone with Parkinson's.
Be creative.
I'll see you on Saturday, April 26th!
