Margot Zobel, the Founder and Director of the Parkinson's Unity Walk will share Parkinson's related news and insights on a periodic basis.

August 2004

July is a wonderful month - it marks a new fiscal year, when we can finally give you the results of the Walk you've been waiting for so eagerly since April. (If you haven't seen the numbers yet, don't wait another minute: click on our official news release.)

We can all be proud of what we accomplished in 2004. But there are two people who deserve special recognition for the time, energy and devotion they put into the Walk on a year-round basis. I think of them as the Unity Walk's Angels - Executive Director Carol Walton and Trina Stokes, Event Director.

I couldn't begin to tell you all the things they do. They seem to be everywhere at once. Call the office on an early weekend morning or late in the evening, expecting to get voice mail, and they'll answer the phone in person. If they're not there, they're probably flying to California, or Washington, D.C., or Georgia, spreading the word about the Walk, building alliances with other Parkinson's groups or making presentations to sponsors.

They produce brochures, send out thank-you letters and maintain a database.

In the midst of all their work, they keep in close touch with the community that has grown around the Unity Walk. If someone is in the hospital or had an accident, they'll be the first to know the patient's condition and tell you whether or not you should visit. Somehow, they keep dozens of balls in the air and never get flustered.

Carol and Trina - Thank you! We couldn't have done it without you!

Margot
