2015 Jane Train Team Walk

Christy Phelps and I are co-captains of The Jane Train Team for the Parkinson’s Unity Walk. We decided that we could make our biggest contribution to research for Parkinson's disease by creating a local walk in our home town of Maryville, Tennessee. The walk was held on April 18, 2015 and funds raised were donated to the Parkinson’s Unity Walk.

Walkers had a one and two mile option. We requested donations and those donating at least $20 received a t-shirt. Our t-shirts were donated by a local business and we had support from the Steel Room, where my co-captain/trainer is owner of a workout studio. Additional funds were raised through a silent auction with items donated by individuals and local businesses  – restaurants, sporting goods stores, manicures, handmade crafts, etc. We played games and had a photo booth on the day of the Walk. We collected $4,000 in our second year of fundraising – and we had a blast!

We plan on holding our third local walk this spring and then travel to New York City for the Walk in Central Park. Let's run Parkinson's disease out of town!
