TEAM ROSSI's Blue Moon Cafe Community Night

(March 5, 2014) - My husband and I go to Blue Moon Mexican Café every so often and every time we went, I saw the signs advertising their "Community Nights.”  This is when a group or organization comes in and 20% of the total sales go back to that group or organization.  I had considered inquiring about it for a while but thought there was probably a lot more detail to it.  In January this year, in my commitment to myself to do more to raise awareness and funds, I took a deep breath and I made the call.  I have to say I was worried for no reason.  It was as easy as "pick a date, we'll send you the flyers that your guests need to bring to get the credit, and then you come back and pick up the check." That was it!!

I decided on February 17th, President's Day for our fundraiser.  My kids and I were off from school and I thought it would be good if we "camped out" at the restaurant for the day.  I wanted to be there to personally thank people who came to support me.  The staff and management were great.  My friends and family came and brought more friends and their families. Patrons who didn't necessarily come out that day to support us ended up choosing to make a donation after learning about TEAM ROSSI and the Parkinson's Unity Walk.  People have a pre-conceived notion about what someone with PD looks like. I like to think that I pretty quickly can dispel that notion.

Towards the end of the night, the manager came over and told me that it was one of the most successful Community Nights they had ever had and quickly encouraged me to do it 3 times a year!  TEAM ROSSI's supporters brought in an additional $1372.10 in sales to the restaurant and proudly accepted the check for $274.42 for the 2014 Parkinson's Unity Walk.

The thing to remember is that what you think may be difficult to accomplish really just requires faith in knowing you can accomplish anything!!
