PK Hope Is Alive - 2nd Annual Walk

May 13, 2013 - Just another spring day in East Tennessee and on April 13th, 2013, we held our 2nd Annual Parkinson’s Walk in Oak Ridge, TN. Over $21,000 was raised, exceeding last year’s total by over $3,000. We had 153+ walkers (which may sound small to you), but it was just right for this year.  Pictures were taken in excess and all seemed to have fun! We had drawings for some great prizes and face painting for the children and any daring adults. We had information booths that featured home health care, out of home care, physical and speech therapy, and DBS. It was a lot of hard work but our membership was up to the challenge. We had good organizers and a lot of enthusiasm. Since then, we’ve had a follow-up meeting and are already planning our 3rd Annual Parkinson’s Walk for April 5th, 2014. The biggest change for next year will be to rent a 20’x 60’ frame tent with tables, chairs, delivery and pick-up. We will also be looking for a featured speaker to begin the Walk. We are grateful to our donors for making this Walk so successful! 100% of all donations go to the Parkinson’s Unity Walk, which funds Parkinson’s research. We are glad to support the Unity Walk, as we all work together to find a cure for PD.
